Thermal profiling training

Thermal profiling and soldering machine capability training for professionals

Target audience

ELAS Kft. is a Licensed IPC Training and Certification Center and a registered member of the IPC. ELAS teaches a more IPC standards with training and certification programmes.

The ELAS thermal profiling and soldering machine capability measurements training is a specialized course designed for professionals working in the electronics industry who are involved in soldering electrical and electronic assemblies, measuring soldering processes, or managing such activities.

Course Content

The training is based on the IPC-7530 standard and includes both theoretical and practical instruction.
The IPC-7530 standard outlines knowledge related to thermal profiling for soldering processes used in mass production of electronic assemblies, including reflow, wave, selective soldering, and their alternatives (such as laser and pin-in-paste methods).
By understanding the content of the standard, participants will gain essential knowledge about designing appropriate thermal profiling test boards and the applicable techniques and methods.

Purpose of the training

In mass soldering processes, it is crucial that every solder joint reaches the minimum soldering temperature to ensure the formation of a diffusion bond between the solder material and the metal surfaces being joined.
To achieve a proper bond, the minimum soldering temperature must be maintained for a sufficient duration to allow the solder to properly wet the soldering surfaces.
Therefore, establishing and measuring an appropriate thermal profile is essential during soldering operations.
After completing the training, participants will be able to apply the acquired knowledge in their daily work, using the standard to guide effective and accurate thermal profiling practices.
